Our Mission

The Gold Rush Hockey Foundation was founded in 2022 to promote and expand youth access to the sport of hockey, and to help our children learn skills on and off the ice that build a foundation for a lifetime of success. Through individual grants, targeted scholarships and sponsored programming, the foundation's primary goal is to increase local youth hockey participation ​and ease the financial stress that can act as a barrier to youth involvement in the sport.

In addition to athletic skills, hockey promotes confidence, cooperation, health and focus, and teaches children time management skills that will help them balance their responsibilities at home, school and in other facets of their life. From the bonds made in the locker room to the relationships formed on the ice, hockey creates and solidifies life-long friendships, fosters teamwork and plants the seeds of leadership.

How we help the Hockey Community:

  • We promote active lifestyles that provide a competitive outlet in a team-based environment                 

  • We facilitate the development of life skills: teamwork, work ethic, dedication, sportsmanship, ethics and nutrition 

  • We encourage coach-player mentor relationships
